The Grounded Project is the first initiative of Footprints Enterprises, a non-profit organisation founded in 2008. Footprints aims to work with young people from a primarily refugee background creating mentoring relationships between young people and artists.
Tom Phillips is a founding member of Footprints Enterprises and has worked with Footprints since inception, across creative and strategic development and as the designer for the identity of The Grounded Project.
The Grounded Project was an initiative that teamed students from Dandenong and Springvale secondary schools with artists across music and the visual arts in an 8 week mentoring program. The culimination of the mentoring program was the running of a concert performance at Dandenong's The Castle in mid 2009, '...one of the most successful youth initiatives to date.'
The brand is contemporary and youthful, while at the same time offering depth and the possibility of extension across multiple media formats through the use of imagery interjecting the circular mark.
A major part of Grounded was the creation of the Grounded CD. This saw the young people who were involved in the mentoring program working towards the creation of a CD featuring original music, which was pressed and sold on the night to raise funds for Grounded. We oversaw the creative direction of the CD and the production of 300 copies.
